Mongoose School / Esperanza is a school for children with special needs. We are an independent Junior School (NGO), a non-profit organisation (Section 21 Company / CC). The profit is reinvested into the school for running costs, equipment upgrades, training and continuous professional development and school bursaries.
We offer:
* Small classes of maximum 10 per class with individualized programmes.
* Children will be divided according to functioning levels to enhance learning.
* The medium of instruction will be Afrikaans or English depending on the child’s language.
* Mainstream curriculum will be followed and adapted to the child’s needs as necessary.
* Children will be prepared to return to mainstream schools where able, and other children will be prepared for further education in special needs high schools, such as Tugela.
* From 3 years until the year the child turns 13
* Children not coping in mainstream education
* Must be able to learn (severe cognitive impairments to be considered for day care class)

PLEASE NOTE:
A taxpayer, who has a child that has a confirmed disability diagnosis, can apply to claim any expenses from SARS that are incurred due to the disability of the child.
Tax deductions are also available to businesses that donate towards the academy, as people with disabilities are seen as a previously disadvantaged group.
